We call api.ipify.org (IPv4/IPv6) and, if enabled, ipapi.co for details. No data is stored by this page.
Public vs. local IP
Your public IP is what websites see (usually the address of your router/NAT or VPN). Your
local IP is private inside your network (e.g., 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x) and isn’t visible on the Internet.
- IPv4 looks like
203.0.113.25; most home networks share one public IPv4 via NAT. - IPv6 looks like
2001:db8::1234; many ISPs assign unique IPv6 addresses to devices. - Using a VPN or proxy? You’ll see the VPN/proxy’s IP here instead of your real ISP address.
Troubleshooting
- If detection fails, your browser or server CSP might block cross-site requests. Allow
connect-srcto includehttps://api.ipify.organdhttps://ipapi.co. - Corporate firewalls/VPNs may block IPv6; IPv6 will then show “—”.
- Hard refresh (Ctrl/Cmd+F5) if results appear stale due to caching.
